New comers often make friendship with seniors too to seek their help and guidance in exams, notes, books, projects etc.
While some seniors are really helpful and nice, there are some anti-social elements too in them. They generally go beyond the line of limitation and start doing ragging in violence way.
I’m not going to mention different “wrong” and “illegal” ways of ragging here, but if you’re victim of such ragging, you can approach your college administartion to file complaint. Do let you parents know about the incident. You can also file complaint online to University Grants Commission (UGC) against ragging.
