How to avail banking services of PNB via SMS?

Punjab National Bank (PNB) is one of the famous public bank after SBI in India. In recent years, especially in last 5-6 years, it has changed a lot for benefit of customers. There was a time when one has to stand in long queues to avail any services of the bank. Now, it offers various services through internet banking, mobile banking, self-service branch etc.

Today, we’ll see how to avail different services of Punjab National Bank (PNB) through SMS.

Firstly, you’ve have to register your mobile phone number with your bank account in PNB. If you’ve not done it so far, you need to visit any PNB branch with PAN card / Aadhaar card and fill-up the form there.

Any mobile phone capable of sending and receiving SMS can be used for SMS Based Mobile Banking. The user has to create an SMS in the following predefined format(s) according to the service required by him and send the same to our fixed number-5607040.

In modern times, the most amazing service is its mobile banking. You can check your account balance, stop payment of cheque, request new cheque book etc. The complete list of such services are:

  • View account balance
  • Online Mini Statement(Quick View of last 10 transactions)
  • Transfer of funds to own accounts (within PNB)
  • Generate MMID
  • IMPS ( Immediate Payment Service) – Transfer of funds to Third Party accounts within PNB as well as Interbank Fund transfers
  • Cheque Status inquiry
  • Stop payment of cheque
  • Cheque Book request
  • Changing SMS Password

The above facilities can be availed by just sending an SMS from your mobile handset to the fixed number 5607040. The SMS should be in a predefined format (table given below). SMS can be sent only from the Mobile number registered with PNB for Mobile Banking facility.
