Why the government is not giving the subsidy on the energy saving lamps and other devices?

Since last 5-6 years I am listening, reading, and watching about the energy saving lamps. Energy saving is very important for the future. We all know about the benefits of these ones but still we are using the old bulbs.

  1. The energy saving lamps will be made compulsory in future. It is the duty of everyone of us who are worried about saving the planet , to automatically switch over to these lamps. We should not expect any subsidy for the same. for Solar cookers and installing solar panels for heating water etc the government is offering subsidy and concessional rate of interest on loans. Let us do our share !

  2. Maybe because of the heavy expenditure on the manufacturing process of these energy saving lamps, the Governments are not able to still provide the subsidiary program. However, instead of subsidizing energy conservation and efficiency, the Government and Board in some states are now promoting consumption by offering free electricity to small homes and farmers. A better strategy would have been to subsidize high efficiency pumps and drip irrigation (which saves both power and water) and homes that consume less than, say, 10 units a month through the use of energy efficient lights and devices.
