Why IT Dept/Govt not considering to deduct tax from pension paid to persons in advance and help pensioners?



We are living in India and old persons find very difficult to visit IT office or any tax consultant to pay dues.It will be good if their tax is deducted at source (if they are eligible) In other nations due to availability of pure items of meals the longevity is more but in India he becomes old very early due to socioeconomic reasons.Our PM/FM must consider.

  1. Your problem is very genuine and provision in this regard are already on place. Your controlling pension office need to deduct tax at source on your pension income but most of the controlling office do no deduct tax at source. As per my information there is no exemption given to pension drawing officer not to deduct tax at source on pension income. You should write to him for deduction of due taxes.


  2. If there is TDS on Pension, then there will be issues of TDS refunds. This will again cause inconvinience.

    It is better to pay exact tax rather then asking for refunds, which you normally do not get or have to wait a long time.
