Owner of the property is more that one i.e. 6 people are owner of the one property. The collectively received rent above 8 lakhs for a year i.e Rs. 12 Lakhs. Out of that Individual received Rs. 2 Lakhs per year. Whether Individual liable to pay service tax on Rs. 2 Lakhs for a year?

  1. as an individual we were to pay tax for all the the goods that we have and we own. for example if you will buy your basic needs still there is a tax included that u need to pay. the real price for ex. is just P99 but because there is vat so the price will rather be more than 99. other sample is the income tax return, event so have a job so still need to pay a tax…..


  2. Service tax is exempted if it is below Rs 8 lakhs per year per service provider. If you have documentary proof of your share you need not pay service tax . Better to have separate rental agreements for each co-owner, so that each will be treated separately and no one has to pay service tax.
