  1. If they charge that fee when you sell your units back to the Mutual Fund, which is called an exit load.

    Fees are charged by Mutual Fund companies to cover the expenses associated with administrative and operative expenses. So to meet those expenses they collect a percentage of fee from the investors. In this case, the fee is when you want out of the investment.

  2. exit load is a fee charged, when you exit your holding, it is different for different mutual fund, also in one mutual fund it vary depending upon the time you are holding your investment.
    but mostly 2.25 is the exit load
