What is the difference between equity share and no equity share.?



I am planing to open an ICICI direct account and start investing in shares. There are two options like
1. I invest in equity
2. I do not invest in equity
Which one should I select. I want to buy shares for IT companies and food processing industries. Under which catogary they fall.

If you are going to buy shares naturally you will be buying equity shares There is nothing called no equity as you are going to purchase through ICICI direct.Please note this is not the time to buy please preserve your capital and wait for market to fall in view of world economy reeling under recession dont hurry in losing your money. if you still want to buy go through Mutual fund and go in systemic investment plan so that your risk will be minimum.


  2. i presume that these are questions to assess your experience in share trading/investment. so you tick the present status.
    once the account is opened, you will be able to invest in shares, provided all the conditions are met.
    there are ordinary equity shares and preference shares.
    normally preference shares are not traded in the market.
    so investment in shares normally indicates investing in equity shares.
