  1. Why not start your own capital guaranteed mutual fund? I’m not kidding – it’s a simple two step process.

For example, if you have Rs 120,000 to invest – put it in a bank fixed deposit earning 10% per annum for 3 years. Opt for a monthly interest.

You will start receiving Rs 1000 as interest every month. Invest the entire amount in a good diversified equity fund (such as HSBC Equity, HDFC Equity, DSPML Equity) for the entire duration of your fixed deposit.

At the end of 3 years, you will get back your capital intact. Chances are that the 36000 you invest in the MF will be worth much more by then.

If you are a conservative investor, then put 500 every month in a recurring deposit and the balance 500 in a MF. Told you it was simple! (I actually practice what I preach – I have a similar scheme going on at one of the private banks where 20% of my monthly interest from the FD goes into a recurring deposit and the rest to mutual funds.)
