  1. since you are a 100% sure you never took a loan from HSBC, call HSBC and tell them your problem, they will verify their records and if it is an error on their end they will fix the problem for you, its a little time consuming but your best option!

  2. You have not taken loan from HSBC. Some other person might have taken loan on your name. Please get it verified with HSBC.

  3. Contact HSBC in writing and request they verify the loan information. You can advise them that you have never had a loan with any HSBC bank. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFO. They can take that and change their documents to reflect your obligation to the loan.

Another person probably has the same name as yours (very common occurrence) and has defaulted. HSBC is taking a shot in the dark that you are that person (very common occurrence).

Another possibility is that you may have a loan with an HSBC affiliate. When banks take over other banks or loan companies, your correspondence will be from the new bank.. Example: Bank of American took over Countrywide. So any correspondence will have Bank of American on it even though the loan is still with Countrywide.

This is something you can’t ignore.
