  1. Yes I think it’s valid as long as he cancelled the deed and registered the change with the courthouse. He didn’t have to go before a judge .I”m sure he wouldn’t have known what paperwork to fill out and file without an attorney advising him. The best way to find out what he did is to go to the courthouse and pull up the info on the house. It’s public records.


  2. Generally settlement deeds are liable for cancellation during life time. Anyway consult a lawyer.
