I am absolute owner of the property which i got by way of a registered irrevocable absolute settlement deed?



executed by my father… after 2.5 years, due to faily problem my father cancelled the said settelment deed simply by exectuing a cancelled deed and by registereing it, without approaching the court of law. I would like to know the validity of the such cancellation deed and my legal position.

  1. Yes I think it’s valid as long as he cancelled the deed and registered the change with the courthouse. He didn’t have to go before a judge .I”m sure he wouldn’t have known what paperwork to fill out and file without an attorney advising him. The best way to find out what he did is to go to the courthouse and pull up the info on the house. It’s public records.
