How to get interest tax deducted statement?

I have some fixed deposits in various banks. They are deducting taxes from interest. I want the exact statement for including in the income tax filing. Will the banks send a separate statement for this to us or we have to ask them for this.

  1. you will soon get a tax deducted certificate may be in may/june which you will have to attach with the return of income to be filed for the year 08-09 so that you get credit for tax deducted at source it will come by post.

  2. There are 2 statements that you have to obtain from the bank:

    1. Interest Statement (accrued or paid)
    2. TDS Certificate or Form 16A.

The bank will deduct tax at source if your interest amount exceeded Rs 10,000/- during the FY @ 10.3%.

Usually nationalised banks do not send statements by post.

  3. You will get the TDS certificate from bank in the next month in which the tax has been deducted.

Now NSDL is also providing a new facility for viewing ONLINE TAX CREDIT just for a fee of Rs. 17/- on which you can view your tax credit when ever it is deposited by the deductor.
just check out VIEW YOUR TAX CREDIT option.
