How to do revised income tax filing after original filing?



I filed IT returns online.But after filing i found that i need to pay some more tax?Can I file returns again after paying extra tax?Should it be revised or original? if its revised, i need to provide receipt number. but i have only acknowledgement number. Will there be any problem if file IT returns as original after rectifying the errors.

  1. No, you should not file returns as original now. After paying the extra tax, you should file the return as revised. While filling the pdf or xls software, click the revised return option and then fill in the acknowledgment no. and date. that will solve the issue. Never file 2 returns as original for the same PAN no. You will land in trouble.


  2. prepare a new return mentioning as revised return. acknowledgment number is your receipt number.
    Don’t file the revised return as original. It is against the law means you will come under misrepresentation of facts.
