How does the pagdi (rent) system in Mumbai work? Specifically who has the right to sell & make the first move?

I’m currently a tenant in Mumbai, under the ‘padgi’ system. I’m looking to move and hence would like to sell my property. My landlord on the other hand is very uncooperative. Am I allowed to sell the property without his consent? How much do I need to give him from the sale price? What other alternative do I have? Any advice will be extremely helpful. Thank you.

  1. Pagadi is the business you do under the table so there are no roles, Pagadi can be anything and they can fix any price.
Now you said you are Tenant and you are asking if you can sell your property and then you are asking if your landlord will allowed you to sell his property?
    Very confusing?
I understand that is not your property right?
so how can you are going to sell?
Only thing you can do is to ask him your Pagadi back and if he want to give you your deposit money back you can go where you want to go.
But also you can get the same Pagadi from someone else who want to move in your place but I am sure that person need the landlord’s permeation to live in his property.
