Do one has to give property details in the ITR2 form when I am not claiming any rebate on intencome tax return?

I am not claiming any rebate on account of interest on housing loan. I am the owner of a single immoveable property, bungalow which is self occupied. Annual corporation taxes are paid and hence income from the property is NIL. Still do i need to give these details in the Return and show as Nil income?

  1. In ITR – 2 it is mandatory to give property details, even if your income from House Property is NIL. However all what the form asks is the address and whether it is rented to someone else or not.

Since you have mentioned that you have only 1 house property, I would suggest you to file ITR – 1 as it does asks any detail about your house property provided your income is restricted to the following heads:
    Income from salary/pension: or/and
Income from one house property(excluding where loss brought forward from previous year): or/and
Income from other sources( excluding winnings from lottery and income from races horses)

However if you have Capital Gains, then you have no option but to file ITR – 2 and provide the deatils of your house property.
