Can I claim tax benefit on two properties given on rent?

I took housing loan in 2003 for purchasing one property in ‘A’ city. The same is now given on rent. Now, I’ve decided to purchase second property in ‘B’ city. But I am staying in some other [‘C’] city, therefore, I need to give my second property on rent. Can I claim income tax benefit for two rented properties, if so, how much?

  1. The maximum limit under this section is Rs. 1,50,000 and you don’t have to actually live in the house to claim this benefit.

The interest payment is deducted from your taxable income and thus reduces your tax liability. There is no limit on the number of houses you can claim this as well as the location of the houses. The only limit is Rs. 1,50,000 on the whole amount.
