Can a foreign citizen open a bank account in any bank in Ukraine?

I have student’s visa. I’ll be in Ukraine till 2016. Is it possible for a non-Ukrainian to open a bank account. I don’t speak Ukrainian and Russian though, will it be a problem?

  1. Yes,
    1) you’ll have to get the “identification number” – in a region/city tax office *depends on where you will study* (the following day [or every other day] after the filling of an application for getting the id.number).
    2) you’ll need your passport and a notarized translation of the passport.
With these documents you can get your bank account in any bank of Ukraine.
I would advice big cities of course.
And, please, learn some Russian + Ukrainian before going. It’s not that difficult

  2. I don’t think that foreign citizen open a bank account because to open a bank account we need to have a citizen of the country otherwise banks don’t give the permission to open an account.

  3. Yes, you can.

In fact, you can even earn money from high API for savings accounts in Ukrainian banks.

Currently, whenever you put your US Dollar or Euro on your savings account- some banks are paying up to 10% API.

I know Americans doing a trip to Ukraine only to put money for 10% API.
