  1. Short term Capital Gains (STCG) is included in the total income and taxed as per applicable rates. STCG arising on sale of equity shares or unit of equity oriented fund through recognized stock exchange is subject to Tax at the rate of 15% if such transaction is chargeable to Securities Transaction Tax. Loss from transfer of a short term Capital Asset can be set off against gain from transfer of any other asset ( Long Term or Short Term). Any unabsorbed loss after such set off can be further carried forward to eight assessment years for set off. Form No ITR II / III / IV as applicable.

  2. STCGs from financial assets are taxed @ 15%.

STCGs from other assets are added to your total income and taxed at your personal slab rate.

STCL can be set off against any capital gain.
