Sum Assured is the amount which you'll get surely. It's a fixed amount from day 1 of the policy. Generally, it is written as S.A. in policy bond. Now, your insurance policy will give some interest also like bonus etc. Together that amount is called Sum insured, which is not fixed.

Hope it will help you.
