Investment options for student ?

For college going students, what are the investment options available if they can invest some amount every month below 8000-10000 by part time jobs stipend or some other means ?

Will it be advisable to open a ppf a/c at this stage ?

For Rs.10,000, divide this amount in Gold ETF / mutual fund, equity mutual funds, PPF and FD. Always invest via SIP in these except FD.
